Jimmy Morris – Practice Principal
Jimmy Morris started work in the industry as a personal trainer in 2005 after graduating from the University of Birmingham in the Sport and Exercise Sciences. Prior to that, in 2003, he represented Great Britain internationally playing American Football for the GB Bulldogs during a successful tour through Europe.
Jimmy’s sporting past has fuelled his interest in exercise injury rehabilitation and as his experience grows his attention is turning more towards medical aspects of health and disease. Dealing predominantly in remedial sports massage and injury rehabilitation, Jimmy has spent considerable time attending sporting events, setting up a portable couch and providing remedial therapy to participants. Previous events include:
- Virgin London Marathon
- Parish Walk
- Crystal Palace Triathlon
- Tough Mann
- Oil Aid
- End 2 End
- Get Active Wandsworth
- 100 Mile Challenge
Jimmy has recently graduated from a 4 year full time degree in osteopathic medicine (University of Surrey) and is now a registered osteopath. Osteopathic principles teach practitioners to look at the body in a different way to conventional medical practices which tend to focus on treating the disease. Osteopathy treats the patient and in doing so empowers the individual to take on responsibility for their own health instead of externalising the problem and resorting to quick-fix medication without making the necessary lifestyle changes to combat the maintaining factors of their illness.
The majority of Jimmy’s patients are healthy; physically active and mentally astute individuals who appreciate the objective considerations of his knowledge and experience with regard to their health situation. Nobody is able to see them self clearly (i.e. without ego getting in the way and muddying the water) so it is important for us to seek independent advice from therapists on a regular basis to ensure we stay on track, just like a routine visit to the dentist.
Currently, Jimmy finds that a balance between yogic, callisthenic, running and rock-climbing activities are keeping his body balanced and in the best shape of his life. Strength, cardiovascular, coordination, balance and power are all factored into his workouts and his treatment sessions reflect this rounded approach by considering all aspects of his client’s health presentation.
